Welcome to Daryl K-M.com!
Remember being a kid at school, when your favorite part of the day was recess? Well, that wouldn't be my story, because my favorite part of the day was hearing the announcements. I knew from an early age that I had a passion for learning new things about the world and listening to the stories of those around me. Whether it was my mother, grandparents, or the grocer at the local store, I could spend hours at a time listening to the stories of others and sharing them with my family. That passion for stories led me to the University of Missouri School of Journalism. From there, I continued to WENY-TV in Elmira, NY as the 11 o'clock anchor, reporter, and producer. It's a lot of hats to wear at one place, but I grew immensely as a journalist. My most recent stop has landed me in Toledo, OH at WTVG as the nightside assignment editor and reporter. Again...many hats, but great experiences!
I grew up in Detroit, MI, so my love for cars, old school music, and the Detroit Pistons run deep! I graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Journalism, with an emphasis in radio/television. I have a minor in Spanish and had the opportunity to study abroad for three months. Studying in Buenos Aires, Argentina allowed me to deepen my language and cultural understanding of South America. I believe every student should study abroad if the opportunity presents itself, for more than academic purposes. I worked at KOMU 8 News from 2009 to 2010, and my stories ranged from school district budget cuts to a local murder case. In October 2010, I was fortunate to get a job at WENY-TV News in Elmira, NY as the nightside anchor, reporter and producer. I covered hundred of stories, and gotten introduced to important Southern Tier issues like hydraulic fracturing and the Fingerlakes wine industry. The people of the Southern Tier welcomed me into their homes, and this place will always hold a special place in my heart because it's the place I met my husband. Outside of the journalism world, I enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, and serving the community with my fellow members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Thank you so much for visiting my page, and please contact me at email@example.com if you would like more information about my career as a journalist.
